Individual and Couples counselling is offered to all clients.
Sometimes you need to insist your partner comes to counselling, and if this doesn’t work you can begin to do some things yourself. You can come in alone and I will help you with ideas about how to improve the relationship, and find better ways to approach communication with your partner.
You can start by asking friends or family members, or check online resources for psychotherapists in your area who offer psychotherapy related to your issue of concern. Ask yourself: is this someone you feel a connection to, does the person seem kind and non-judgmental, and could you share your thoughts and feelings comfortably? Call the therapist and have a brief conversation, ask questions about their education, credentials, what they enjoy about their profession, what was their most recent professional development. Ready to connect? Have questions? Give me a call at (905) 351-4225.
According to research most people attend individual psychotherapy for 5-8 sessions depending on the situation. Couples often need ten or more sessions.
All sessions are confidential, as outlined in the intake form.
A referral is not required. Clients often come on their own volition, as well as at the suggestion of their family doctor, psychiatrist, other health care professionals, family, and/or friends.
Usually your first appointment will be within one or two weeks.
Psychotherapy is not covered by OHIP, however many insurance companies do cover Registered Psychotherapists such as myself. Call your insurance company or your employer’s human resource department, and ask them for specific coverage details, to benefit from the services of a Registered Psychotherapist.
Registered Psychotherapists in Ontario are health care professionals recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) as medical practitioners for the purposes of the medical expense tax credit.
